Death is a part of life

I hate that phrase.  While watching Army Wives the other night, an “angel” character said that to one of the women on the show who was grieving over the loss of her daughter.  Immediately, I thought of the sarcastic response to that phrase which I believe some comedian or other famous person said years ago [...]

Men in Trees canceled

I really like the show Men in Trees and just found out it was canceled back in May.  I don’t know how I missed the news on that but anyway, I’m bummed.  I thought the show had some great dialogue and I loved the different characters and I’ll miss watching their stories each week.  I [...]

Moms and minivans

I can’t help myself today.  I have a gripe and I have to vent it.  I’m driving to work this morning on a highway.  Everyone is doing at least 65 mph … except crazy lady soccer mom minivan driver (I can call her that b/c she had soccer stickers all over her vehicle).  She could [...]

Miley Cyrus

This post has absolutely nothing to do with the Navy but I felt like piping in on this latest photo controversy that erupted over the weekend.  Honestly, I could care less about Miley or Hannah Montana or any of that b/c I’m not a fan of hers.  I don’t have kids so I don’t see what [...]

Sleep deprived

Last night, if I got 3 hours of sleep, that’s being generous.  Our area was under tornado watches and nasty evil weather warnings overnight.  Around 1 am the second band of storms hit us and woke me up.  Winds were gusting around 40 mph, rain was blowing horizontally and it was thundering and lightening.  I [...]

A case of the Mondays

I loathe Mondays because it’s the start of another week of getting up early and I’d rather sleep in.  I love sleep in ways that can’t be explained and usually on Sunday nights, I never manage to get a decent night’s rest.  My mind is usually turned on and it’s hard to get the wheels [...]

Deployment gremlins

We all have them.  I’ve had my fair share this deployment.  The first 6 months alone nearly cracked my sanity in half.  Every other week, either the house, the cars or the dogs was having a problem and I was about to throw in the towel.  Well, it’s been smooth sailing mostly for awhile now [...]

Skeeved out

A co-worker forwarded me this link and I’m so grossed out.  Anyone staying in hotels anytime soon might want to be wary of the drinking glasses, and who knows what else.  I think I’d only trusted the single use plastic cups that are individually wrapped in plastic at this point.

Poor Obi-Wan

I called him on my way to work today and unfortunately, as I was merging onto the highway, I treated him to an explosion of colorful expletives that came flying out of my mouth.  You see, as I was attemping to merge, a very inconsiderate driver (I’m trying to keep this clean here) sped up [...]

Public goodbyes

I borrowed this post topic from Just Another Snarky Navy Wife because I wanted to blog about my own experiences and opinions on public goodbyes.  She wrote of the local media coverage and having to say goodbye in public.  I have had 3 big deployment goodbyes from Obi-Wan in the 8 years we’ve been married so [...]
