Slightly irresponsible or just can’t remember !%$@

I just emailed Obi-Wan to let him know that I’m a bonehead.  I was 20 minutes into my drive to the commissary this morning when I realized I didn’t have my wallet with me.  After a round of quiet cursing at myself, I turned around and headed home and there I will remain for awhile.  The commissary is no short trip – to get to either commissary in this area is a 30-35 minute drive so trips are planned in advance so as not to waste time or gas.  I was all ready and even went through a mental checklist to make sure I had my grocery bags, grocery list, phone, and all that.  Usually I check to make sure I have my wallet too b/c I often move my wallet between bags.  Most of the time, if I don’t have my wallet, I realize it in my driveway before I leave.  But oh no, I had to drive 20 minutes and basically waste 40 minutes of my morning today.  This is me banging my head against the wall.

And to top it off, as if that moment of forgetfulness wasn’t enough, I then pulled into a gas station to get gas before the lightbulb went back on once again to remind me that “doofus, you don’t have your wallet so you can’t possibly get gas.”  Slapping myself now.

Really hope the rest of the day goes better or I will be curled into a ball in the corner.

Just to make you feel a little better… I still get all our kids names mixed up… and I often call my middle sister by my eldest daughter’s name unintentionally which drives them both nuts because I also call my eldest by my middle sister’s name. Probably because they both irritate me for the same reasons. And if you can understand the above paragraph that I assure you was written in the English language, then your day just got a whole lot better than mine. ;P

well at least you remembered before you pulled up to the post guard shack and had to do the turnaround! never felt like SUCH a fool… especially when I left the ID card on my dresser and not even in my wallet…

Hmm… I’ve had one too many of those days too. All I can say is I’m very glad my head is attached to my neck or I would have left it by the roadside somewhere!

Looking forward to reading your blog to help me cope with my first deployment.
Thank you for sharing.
