Saltier every day

Posted on January 12, 2011. Filed under: Navy life |

Clearly it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged because I couldn’t remember my login or password to write a post tonight.  Thank goodness for reset your password features.  I must admit I’ve almost given up on the blog a few times due to lack of time to really commit and write anything worthwhile.  But, I miss blogging and after catching up tonight on some of the other milspouse blogs that I used to read all the time, I want to get back into it, even if just a little, to keep my street cred and all.

So, the title of this post has a double-meaning.  My personality seems to be a bit saltier again because of life in the Navy these past several months and I’m earning more salty points each month every time Obi-Wan is back out whooping it up on the high seas.

Life in 2010 was just nuts.  My job had me traveling a lot more than anticipated so lots of juggling the paws in kennels and such and Obi-Wan was underway practically two weeks out of every month on average.

Ship life is not for the weary I must say.  His ship schedule changed so much that I told him not to tell me dates for anything unless the ship was actually pulling away from the pier.   Many plans were attempted for various things from mini-vacays to just dinner with friends and got canceled last minute.  I wanted to have a serious come to Jesus talk with the puppet master of ship schedules to tone down some of the frequent changes.

So this last year has made me pretty damn salty and it’s not getting any less salty.  2011 promises to keep Obi-Wan away even more so I may get downright cantankerous from time to time.  As it is, he was supposed to be able to come on our family vacation with us this summer and now he can’t because the ship underway schedule changed.  Damn it all to hell.

Enough whining.  Here’s to many salty posts in the coming year!  :)

So glad to see you back in my RSS feed!

That sucks about the ship schedule, we’re about to start a very similar work-up cycle so I’m about to feel your pain! Damn it all to hell indeed.

I hope to hear more saltiness in the coming months! Hang in!

I love salt, bring it on. :)

I need to get back to blogging periodically just to get back in the groove, because I have a feeling I’ll need an outlet to bitch once my husband goes “back to the fleet”, as we say in Marine Corps land. He’s on a b-billet right now — basically shore duty.

“puppet master of ship schedules” Love it!

Totally understand. Let me know if you find that puppetmaster because I need to have a little chat with him too. :-) In the same “boat” with the vacay too. Life in the Navy is sometimes more interesting on the outside isn’t it.
