Unplanning and the Navy
After reading this blog post by a fellow blogger, it reminded me of our own scheduling issues of late. Obi-Wan and I will be celebrating 10 fabulous years of marriage in December and unbeknownst to me, my betrothed was planning a lovely surprise for our anniversary. Now, he won’t be here for the actual date b/c in true Navy fashion, the ship he is reporting to in early December of course has to get underway for some inexplicable reason. In any case, he was planning a getaway for us involving a few days in Napa, CA upon his return. Well those plans got blown to smithereens when he found out a few weeks ago that instead of being gone 10 days in December, they will be out almost the entire month now. Thanks an f’ing lot Navy. Not like I expect him to be around for everything significant or anything but 10 years isn’t anything to dismiss either. And considering he’s been gone for the last 6 months getting educated under your wise tutelage on all things ship related for his next job, the least you could do is leave him be for a few weeks so we could spend some quality time together before you suck his soul out to sea again for 3 years. Jeez almighty! And so, we unplan our plans and look for another time to maybe hopefully potentially be able to celebrate surviving this roller coaster lifestyle issued by the U.S. government.

Agh, it never fails, does it? And it sucks especially because that trip to CA sounded really fun.

I guess the milestones are celebrated when we can. 10 years and one month is that much farther along in a happy marriage. Hopefully it will be just as special and wonderful when he is finally home. So sorry everything keeps getting messed up.

That sucks! I am so sorry. We take so much in stride, but it really hurts when the Navy just throws things at us like this. This post made me cry. I hope that when he comes back they let you celebrate for a few days!
