The Battle is Over For Now

Posted on May 27, 2009. Filed under: Complaints/Gripes/Whines, Employment, Things that piss me off, Things that suck about deployment |

I have conquered the ants for the most part with some Ortho Home Defense spray.  I picked some up at the Exchange yesterday and proceeded to treat the hell out of my house inside and out.  Those little bastard ants need to know that the barrier is up and they can’t come in anymore.  I’ve seen a few protesters lingering but for the most part, the situation is under control and we’re down to Defcon 5 now.  Let’s hope it stays that way b/c the  pest company was booked solid until next week.

The battle to find employment however still wages on.  It is so draining to search every day and not see anything in my field to apply for.  I got lucky the last two weeks and at least had a few things to apply for but this week is null so far.   Whether I’ll ever hear back from any of these places is up for debate b/c I haven’t heard a peep yet and time is a ticking as far as I’m concerned.   I did have a moment of excitement earlier today, however, in the search b/c I saw 3 or 4 job postings at a military place in the metro area.  But that bubble bursted as soon as I read that each position required active security clearance.  Mother F’er.  Can I get a break?  It’s the one thing I don’t have and in all other ways, I’m qualified for those jobs.  I’ve never had to have a security clearance of any kind so it’s frustrating that that is the one thing holding me back from being an eligible candidate.  And in my area, like I said, I’m lucky if I see any jobs posted in a given week in my field.  So this seriously bites.

Well enough of that for now.  I guess I’ll go organize my scrapbook room.

I suggest applying for the security clearance jobs anyway. Sometimes if they’re having a hard time filling a position, they will hire someone and then get them cleared, or start the clearance process prior to starting work. Good luck!

I agree about the security clearance jobs. The worst that would happen is that they’ll see you don’t have the clearance on your resume and disregard it. But if they can’t find someone as qualified, they might make an exception, and they won’t consider you if your resume isn’t on file with them, right?

And good luck with the ants. We’ve got the same problem over here.
