Just call me twisty pretzel
The hot yoga went well. The girl that took me to her class said I did pretty well for not having done any yoga before. Obviously my form and breathing on many of the positions was probably not close to perfect but I tried. I can only credit my ability to do some of the twisty pretzel positions on the fact that I stretch all the time and work out regularly. I’m decently flexible so most of the positions weren’t too bad. It was a matter of nailing down the form and breathing, which I know will take time. What surprised me was that I didn’t run screaming out of there at the heat. I usually can’t stand hot rooms like saunas and steam rooms. The yoga instructor explained that the class was heated to 100 degrees and he wasn’t joking. It was HOT. But, I used my cold washcloth that they provided to cool myself off from time to time and drank plenty of water.
The class was a beginner class but I was definitely the newbie as I was watching everyone else in the mirror for form. All in all, I enjoyed the class, and while it wasn’t the life transforming moment that many claim about yoga, I will definitely look into classes and see if I can get there. I have some inner chi somewhere that is dying to be quieted and centered so I will take some classes. I figure it might do me good with Obi-Wan leaving again and me adjusting to all the responsibility. That way if I’m all calm and centered, maybe I won’t sweat the small stuff.

Wow, that sounds super interesting! Hey, if form and breathing is all you have to practice after one session, good for you. That’s certainly an accomplishment.

congrats for making it through. we don’t do HOT yoga, but the AC is definitely off… not too good for me since overheating brings on the dreaded migraine, but the yoga does seem to help. I haven’t been in a while, need to get back to it.

I have been wanting to try a yoga class for a while – they have them at Camp Swampy, so it’s on my todo list in the near future. I think the hot yoga sounds nice, actually – it’s so much easier to stretch when your muscles are nice and hot.
