Bloggoversary

Posted on August 28, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

I just realized that I’ve been blogging one year this week.  My first post was on August 25, 2007 and I was about 5 months into Obi-Wan’s Iraq deployment.  Wow, I can’t believe a year has gone by.  I can’t believe I’ve been writing this long, considering many days I wake up and have nothing [...]

I am.  I finally registered the other day for the Norfolk, VA event and I’m hoping to meet some of you fellow bloggers out there.  Butterfly Wife and I are planning to meet up and I’m excited to meet other milspouses while there.  Hope to see some of you there.

Part 2 – A relationship begins

Posted on August 26, 2008. Filed under: Husband, Memories |

So there I was in my apartment the remainder of the week waiting for Obi-Wan to call about our upcoming first date and I was a nervous ninny.  I was calling all my friends and trying to get them to calm me down.  I hadn’t been on a date in a few years and I was [...]

Slightly Salty meets Obi-Wan (part 1)

Posted on August 25, 2008. Filed under: Husband, Memories |

Loquita is asking fellow bloggers to write the story of how people met their spouses so here goes.
10 years ago in a galaxy not too far away, Obi-Wan and I were in classes together.  We both worked full-time so we took night classes and after seeing each other in the same classes a few semesters [...]

Holy Shockamole!

Posted on August 21, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

On a local radio station’s Hollywood gossip report this morning, it was announced that Jonathan Knight from New Kids on the Block is gay.  Not that there is anything wrong with that but oh my goodness.  I’m just stunned.    I still think he’s hot and he’s still my favorite new kid.  I will say I feel [...]

Too soon for that talk

Posted on August 20, 2008. Filed under: Deployment, Husband, Navy life |

Obi-Wan and I were on our deck last night hanging out a bit before going out to dinner and he started showing me something on the new grill that I’ll need to know about when he leaves eventually.  He said “I’m already half switching into that mindset of preparing you for me leaving and making sure [...]

Saturday Project

Posted on August 18, 2008. Filed under: Home Projects, Husband |

Obi-Wan decided Friday night that we needed to insulate our attic above the garage.  We knew we would tackle this project eventually because when we bought the house a few years ago, the inspector mentioned we could increase the energy efficiency if we insulated.  After deciding what type of insulation would be best for the [...]

To come home for R&R or not

Posted on August 13, 2008. Filed under: Deployment, Husband, Navy life |

Excellent discussion on SpouseBUZZ the other day about deciding whether or not the deployed military member should come home on R&R.  Airforce wife had some very good reasons for not wanting her husband to come home if he was able to get R&R and I can totally see her point.  It may sound insane to civilians [...]

Orders Finally!

Posted on August 8, 2008. Filed under: Husband, Navy life, Orders |

Obi-Wan finally got his orders today.  He’ll officially be stationed on a ship in Norfolk, VA which is what he wanted and he got the job he wanted so he’s happy.  He’s excited too b/c it’s a newer ship – a destroyer.  I may divulge more details later.  In any case, we get to stay planted [...]

Not dramatic enough?

Posted on August 6, 2008. Filed under: Deployment, Things that suck about deployment |

A fellow blogger was attempting to get a book published about dealing with deployment, among other things and was unfortunately rejected by several publishers.  It appears they don’t think her material is dramatic enough.  After reading her post I felt a bit fired up about what the publishers qualify as dramatic enough.  Surviving a deployment with sanity [...]
