No news on orders yet

The billet list came out but we’ll be making a less than fully informed decision.  The list provides information as to the type of ship, home port and job title or billet title but not ship name which is what we were hoping for.   And he is picking with 49 other people too.  49 other people and 36 billets to pick from.  We’re not sure why there is an uneven number of people to billets but that’s another story.

It’s been over 4 years since we picked ship orders so we couldn’t remember if the name of the ship was included on the slate list or not.  Ideally, it’s nice to know the name of the ships so that you can find out some information beforehand like deployment schedules, etc.  Not that it matters so much nowadays b/c the ship schedules change at the drop of a hat.  But if there’s a way to know, I want to know obviously.

In any event, Obi-Wan is deciding on his preferences right now, mainly based on the location and then ship type.  We’re trying to stay in this area and hopefully have a good shot at that based on his qualifications thus far.  That IA definitely helps him out because not everyone on the list picking orders will have done one, much less a 12 month one.  So, I guess in some bizarre way, the IA wasn’t entirely terrible if it benefits his career.  It still sucked though!

He’ll submit his picks to his detailer later this week and we should find out what he ends up with in early August.
