Bizarre deployment thoughts

Posted on July 31, 2008. Filed under: Deep Thoughts, Deployment |

Today I read a great post over at SpouseBUZZ by Sarah about deployment gremlins.  I commented but I wanted to write something here as well.
Sarah mentioned some morbid thoughts she had about the fact that if something happened to her at her house, no one would probably notice for days b/c she isn’t acquainted too [...]

Nyquil Rocks

Posted on July 30, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel, Things that make me feel awesome |

Upon the suggestion of several people, I had Obi-Wan run out and get me some Nyquil last night so that I could get some sleep.  I haven’t taken it in years and forgot how magical it really is.  I slept decently last night to my surprise.  I’m still not feeling fabulous yet and stayed home [...]

Feeling like crap

Posted on July 29, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

Holy moly, I’m sick!  I went from not feeling so hot last night to please put me out of my misery this morning.  Running a slight temperature, achy all over and my head feels like it’s swimming right now.  I think I only slept a few hours and I’m hopped up on a decongestant right [...]

Back from Vegas

Posted on July 28, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

No wild stories to tell or keep secret for that matter.  It was actually quite relaxing and our Southwest flights were relatively painless.  We went with some friends of ours, another Navy couple, and it worked out well.  Obi-Wan and his friend would play poker for hours on end and my friend K and I [...]

Friday Fun

Posted on July 20, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel, Things that make me feel awesome |

Obi-Wan and I went to a concert Friday night and saw Foreigner and Bryan Adams in Portsmouth, VA.  Let me just tell you, I was prepared for a relaxing, not too crazy concert experience.  That was not the case.  When you think of Foreigner, yes, you think of their harder hits like Hot Blooded and [...]

No news on orders yet

Posted on July 15, 2008. Filed under: Navy life |

The billet list came out but we’ll be making a less than fully informed decision.  The list provides information as to the type of ship, home port and job title or billet title but not ship name which is what we were hoping for.   And he is picking with 49 other people too.  49 other people and 36 billets to pick [...]

Atta Girl Award

Posted on July 14, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

Obi-Wan gave me an “Atta Girl” compliment yesterday.  First one ever I think, using that particular phrase.  He’s given me props for years on handling different things well or doing various things well but this was the first Atta Girl that I heard from him.  He was working in our office with me tidying things [...]

Orders

Posted on July 11, 2008. Filed under: Husband, Navy life |

Today Obi-Wan starts picking orders to his next ship.  The list comes out today so we’ll begin pouring through it.  We’re planning on staying where we are and since we’re near the world’s largest naval base, I don’t think it will be a problem to find a billet on a ship here.  The big question [...]

Reflections on the Iraq deployment

Posted on July 10, 2008. Filed under: Deep Thoughts, Deployment, Iraq |

Like I mentioned yesterday, I wanted to revisit some of my thoughts from Obi-Wan’s Iraq deployment to remember what I was thinking during different times.  I wish I had started blogging about it from the beginning though but I didn’t start this blog until we were halfway through.  I’m sure those posts would have been [...]

More tomorrow

Posted on July 9, 2008. Filed under: Deep Thoughts, Deployment |

I got to thinking today about what to blog about but I ran out of time to sit down and actually blog.  It’s bedtime and reveille is early tomorrow to hit the gym so I must sleep now.  But tomorrow I plan on revisiting some of my deployment moments and what I was thinking at [...]
