Miley Cyrus

This post has absolutely nothing to do with the Navy but I felt like piping in on this latest photo controversy that erupted over the weekend.  Honestly, I could care less about Miley or Hannah Montana or any of that b/c I’m not a fan of hers.  I don’t have kids so I don’t see what all the hype is about.  But I digress.

All the news sources online have headlines about her Vanity Fair photoshoot and how she is embarrassed by the provocative look of the photos that appear.  First of all, she probably should be embarrassed and apologetic because what parent or teenager can think that a picture of a 15 year-old with an exposed back and sheet covering her front could possibly be appropriate in any way, shape or form.  I don’t care that Annie Leibovitz took the picture and how fabulous she is.  I agree she is an amazing photographer.  The point is who thought pictures like that of a 15 year old would be appropriate and not viewed as too provocative for her age.  And moreover, that she is the face of Disney for pete’s sake.  Who thought Disney wouldn’t get upset?  Seriously.  Take a reality check.  An entirely different kind of photoshoot should have taken place that day and all parties involved should have known better from the photographer to the Cyrus family.  Surely they could have come up with better clothing choices for a 15 year old girl who is adored and worshipped by millions of people.  That picture looks like it could have been the cover for Maxim Magazine or some other men’s magazine.

Enough said.  I just felt like ranting.

  1. Yeah, you have to wonder what the photographer and the magazine were thinking. They’re the ones that are putting that stuff out there. One would think they would use better judgement. That said, ultimately, the parents/agents/whoever should have done more checking into exactly what the photo shoot would entail. I mean, this is Vanity Fair. Um, naked, preggo Demi Moore?

  2. and now reading more, it says that her “minders” were on set, reviewed the photos, and ok’d them. So, I want to know who was blackmailing them - did someone make them put these photos in? It looks like lots of pics were taken, why did her “minders” ok these pics if they felt they were presenting her in a bad way?
