Sleep deprived
Last night, if I got 3 hours of sleep, that’s being generous. Our area was under tornado watches and nasty evil weather warnings overnight. Around 1 am the second band of storms hit us and woke me up. Winds were gusting around 40 mph, rain was blowing horizontally and it was thundering and lightening. I turned the tv on to see the radar showing the viewing area and what color of dred we were under. I was scared like a 5 year old. I hate being by myself during storms, especially if the word tornado is mentioned. The way it was looking outside, and the fact that my house was shaking from the wind, I was about 2 seconds away from grabbing the paws and going downstairs and hiding somewhere b/c I thought the house was going to blow apart. I haven’t been that scared over a storm in ages but last night did me in. I seriously thought the wrath of Christ was about to hit. Looking back, perhaps I was a bit melodramatic, but at the time I was nervous.
As a result of said heinous evil weather, I was awake half the night. And then to top it off, Yellow Dog decided she needed to go potty around 4 am, just after I had fallen back to sleep. Of course, I had to go outside and make sure the fence was still intact from its recent damage, so that did it for me. I was officially full of hate and discontent because of my sleep deprivation. For those that know me, they know I’m one cranky monster when I don’t get enough sleep.
I knew when the alarm went off this morning that I would truly hate waking up, and I did. I’ve loaded myself up with a gigantic Starbucks drink to hopefully keep me awake through the morning hours here.

I would be scared too (so I think your reaction was totally fine and completely sane, if it makes you feel any better)! Hopefully tonight you can have a relaxing evening and get to bed early for a much better night’s sleep!

Thanks, I feel like less of a sissy now, despite Obi-Wan’s teasing.

Exactly. After I saw that, I said to Obi-Wan we should joke around and call the dogs Yellow Dog and Chocolate Dog.

I hear ya. If I even hear it start to rain at night, I don’t sleep well b/c all I can think about is standing at the bus stop w/ the 3 rugrats in the rain. It must’ve been pretty windy around here b/c a couple of local elementary schools closed (power outages….K’s school was open) and our neighbor’s flag pole fell down (and that sucker is anchored in pretty well afaik)
I hope you’re already asleep.

Yes, it helped. I got a venti caramel macciato which is one of my favorite drinks. Lots of caffeine in that so I got through the morning pretty well. By late afternoon I was crashing though and feeling the exhaustion set in.
