Deployment gremlins
We all have them. I’ve had my fair share this deployment. The first 6 months alone nearly cracked my sanity in half. Every other week, either the house, the cars or the dogs was having a problem and I was about to throw in the towel. Well, it’s been smooth sailing mostly for awhile now and with 4 weeks left until Obi-Wan’s return, I was hoping I was in the clear. But alas, that was not my fate.
This was what I came home to Monday after work.
Seriously. We had 50 mph wind gusts through part of Sunday and apparently my fence wasn’t able to withstand the torture. A 4 foot section just ripped off and landed in the woods behind my house. I happened to walk outside with the dogs when I let them out after work and gazed past my shed and said “WTF? Where’s the fence?” And I discovered this lovely tidbit of information as Yellow Dog was 20 feet away from the gaping opening going potty. I’m lucky, and I mean really lucky, I was able to entice her with the promise of dinner to get her to come back inside the house. That dog would take any chance of escaping if she could. I think she was a very free-spirited creature in her past life.
In any case, I wrangled the paws back inside before they got smart on the whole fence not being there and fed them. Then I walked back out, took pictures and called my friend K. She sent her husband over to put the section back up where it belongs and nail it back into place as best as he could. It will hold for now until Obi-Wan gets home, provided we don’t get any hurricane force winds again.
It just kills me. I’m thinking “this couldn’t have waited until he came home, or call me crazy, just not happened at all.” Enough already! Deployment gremlins leave my house and NEVER come back!!! I will stomp you dead if you do.

Stinkin’ gremlins! It was really nice of your neighbor to help you out, even if it is just a band-aid for the next couple weeks.
I hope that the fix holds until Obi-Wan returns, and that the gremlins have gone!
