Football

Posted on January 25, 2008. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

I think I’ve already mentioned before how I love watching football, particularly NFL.  While perusing the blogs this morning, I saw a great post and discussion on SpouseBUZZ about watching football so I had to put my two cents in on the topic.

Andi had mentioned in her post how she thought football season was the best time for her husband to deploy if he were to go b/c she would have sole possession of the remote, especially on Sundays, etc.  For me, it’s lousy b/c Obi-Wan and I always make a big production out of game day in our house.  We have NFL Sunday Ticket on Direct TV and watch football all day long!  I can’t get enough of it.  With him gone this time around, it hasn’t been the same watching the games.  He’s not there to scold me for cursing too much at the tv (and yes, I confess, I yell and cuss at the tv when my team isn’t doing well).

Furthermore, I even avoid plans with girlfriends on Sundays because of the games.  So from September to the end of January, you won’t see me out shopping at the mall or enjoying a nice lunch with the girls.  I’ll be glued to the tv!  Some of my friends are like “uh oh, here we go…”  I can’t help it though.  My husband has gotten me addicted to watching football.  He loves it too b/c it’s one more way we can spend time together.

In fact, a few years ago, when he was on a ship in California, he had duty on Superbowl Sunday.  Being the dutiful wife, I pre-ordered wings from Hooters and brought them down to the ship so we could watch the game together.  Of course, we shared them with some of his friends too.  And I have to say, it was a blast!

So, you all know where I’ll be on Sunday February 3 … watching the big game of games.  Sorry you’ll miss it with me this year babe!  :(

I totally understand where you are coming from. When my hubby is gone, I turn the tube on, even if I am not watching it, just so I can hear the noise of the games and pretend that he is home. But, I do watch most games, and no, it isn’t the same when they aren’t home to join you! Sending you hugs today and on game day!!
