Military access to blogs

Posted on October 31, 2007. Filed under: Communication |

I’m kind of bummed now.  Obi-Wan can no longer access my blog from his computer at work.  He really got a kick out of being able to read it every day but since last week, they have updated the list of blocked sites on their work computers and he can’t visit the site anymore.  I’m [...]

Murphy’s law strikes again

Posted on October 29, 2007. Filed under: Poop happens, Things that suck about deployment |

Just when I thought I was out of fresh blog topics, it occured to me to recount my latest visit by that damn Murphy character.  I’ve got a little over 4 months of this deployment left and I would really appreciate it if Murphy would stay out of my house.
Decided to turn the heat on [...]

Nothing to say

Posted on October 29, 2007. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

I haven’t had much to say lately, thus the lack of posts.  No creative juices were flowing in my mind on what to write.  I did update the look of the blog a bit but that’s about it.  I’m trying to jazz it up some but I’m having some issues trying to do that.  My [...]

Wildfires

Posted on October 24, 2007. Filed under: Current events/news |

Have to quit wallowing now and talk about the wildfires in Southern California.  I lived in San Diego for 2 years so I’m watching the news of the fires unfold very anxiously.  I still have friends that live there with whom I stay in touch so I’m praying that everyone makes it through this horrible situation ok.  I have [...]

Down in the dumps

Posted on October 23, 2007. Filed under: Deployment, Dogs, Poop happens |

This is my current mood right now.  I’ve been wallowing in “dumpville” for the past two days.  I’m excited to see Obi-Wan in a month so obviously, that’s not dragging me down.  I guess it’s like what I wrote in my post yesterday about starting to feel again.  My emotions are just swamping me right [...]

Lost my heart

Posted on October 22, 2007. Filed under: Deep Thoughts, Deep dark chocolate, Husband, Things that suck about deployment |

I’m listening to my iPod right now and Keane’s song Crystal Ball is playing.  I never paid attention too much to the lyrics before – usually I half hear the music b/c I’m at work and it’s nice to have background noise.  But just now, I really listened to the lyrics and felt like a [...]

Irony

Posted on October 22, 2007. Filed under: Mindless drivel |

As I was driving to work today, I happened to notice an SUV in the lane next to me.  The woman driving it was smoking a cigarette and as her car proceeded farther ahead than mine, I noticed some breast cancer stickers and magnets with phrases like “I walked the walk” on her vehicle.  Couldn’t tell if she [...]

Friendships

Posted on October 19, 2007. Filed under: Deep Thoughts, Perspective, Relationship stuff |

After reading another blogger’s post today on relationships with friends, I had some thoughts of my own to put down.  Nothing different, just wanted to expand my thought process here.  I’ve done a lot of thinking about my relationships with people over the last several months.  For the first time in my married life, I [...]

A proper meal

Posted on October 18, 2007. Filed under: Deployment, Things that suck about deployment |

I’m so proud of myself because last night for dinner, I actually cooked a proper meal.  I grilled chicken that I marinated in some bbq seasoning and lemon juice then cooked some long grain rice and steamed broccoli as sides.  Not only did I prepare a nice meal, but one that actually achieved some level [...]

Nothing to talk about

Posted on October 16, 2007. Filed under: Communication, Deep Thoughts, Deployment, Things that suck about deployment |

Another pickle in this whole communication during deployment situation is having the means to communicate but nothing to really say.  I was able to talk to Obi-Wan this morning and aside from dispensing with the usual “what did you do today or what are you doing today” stuff, we had nothing really to say to each other.  I said “how ironic is [...]
