Changes

Posted on August 31, 2007. Filed under: Changes |

One thing that has happened to me since the DH left is I’ve started morphing into him.  Not literally of course, but figuratively.  I’ve begun adopting some of his habits in order to stay on top of everything in his absence.  For instance, my dear sweet husband doesn’t know what the word “relax” means.  Every [...]

Note to Daddy from the Paws

Posted on August 30, 2007. Filed under: Dogs |

The paws thought that Daddy might like to read a doggy note from them.  Another blogger does this and it gave me the idea to do the same for my DH.  As it is, the paws send Daddy cards from time to time telling him how much they miss him.  So, why not an electronic note!
Dear [...]

Phases of deployment

Posted on August 30, 2007. Filed under: Deployment |

There are emotions that correspond with the 5 phases of the deployment cycle.  The phases are pre-deployment, deployment, sustainment, reunion, and post-deployment.  I learned about the corresponding emotions during a junior office spouse seminar a few years ago when learning to be a new Navy wife.  The seminar I attended was invaluable.  I not only met [...]

Missing weird things

Posted on August 29, 2007. Filed under: Deployment |

This morning I had to grab workout socks to mail to the DH and it occurred to me while opening the sock drawer that I hadn’t touched anything in his dresser in quite some time.  I did have to put some clothes away that he mailed to me after arriving overseas but it has probably [...]

On the subject of dogs and deployment

Posted on August 28, 2007. Filed under: Dogs |

Tonight I was eating my dinner on the couch in front of the tv.  I see no need for formality at a table when it’s just me right now.  My dogs always enjoy meal times because there’s always that chance that mommy will slip them something tasty.  So whenever I sit down to eat, I [...]

Final hours before deployment

Posted on August 27, 2007. Filed under: Deployment |

I just finished watching the season finale of Army Wives.  Two characters were deploying on the show and it brought back so many feelings from 5 months ago when the DH left.  Those final 24 hours you spend together are more precious than anything and it’s hard to describe.  There’s constant eye contact and handholding [...]

Missed birthdays

Posted on August 27, 2007. Filed under: Deployment |

Today is my DH’s birthday and it’s the first one we’ve spent apart in a few years.  Birthdays for us are always an extravaganza and it’s more like birthday month then just one day celebrated.  We typically do big presents and then go out to a great restaurant and just act silly all day.  This [...]

Welcome to the NARMY?

Quote of the Day: “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.” Mary Anne Radmacher

Beginnings

Posted on August 25, 2007. Filed under: First post |

Welcome to my blog!  Being that this is my first ever blog post, I’m almost not certain where I should begin.  I’m suddenly suffering a bit of writer’s block after having thoughts in my head for days about what I would write.  Let’s go with a little background on me and the DH (“dear husband” to me, [...]
